Sinéad Swan
Sinéad joined our Medical Negligence* department in 2001 as trainee solicitor, qualifying in 2005. She is a highly skilled solicitor and negotiator in all areas of medical negligence.
She has assisted clients in complex medical negligence cases, providing invaluable insight and experience at trial and settlement agreements. She has extensive experience representing clients and their families in all Hep C matters including at Tribunal proceedings and in High Court.
Professional Experience
Sinéad Swan is an experienced solicitor in medical negligence matters with specific legal expertise representing clients in high value medical negligence actions.
Sinéad has worked on a wide array of cases from inception to successful determination including post surgical infection resulting in fatality, orthopaedic injury, psychiatric injury, injuries arising from negligent cosmetic surgery, defective breast implants and gynaecological and obstetric misdiagnosis.
Sinéad has developed particular expertise in the areas of complex personal and fatal injuries litigation and in the representations of persons infected with Hepatitis C and/or HIV from contaminated blood products before the Compensation Tribunal and the High Court. Sinéad has represented numerous families of persons who have died from Hepatitis C and/or HIV in their own claims before the Compensation Tribunal involving complex and extensive dependency losses and care and services losses arising from the death. She has represented numerous spouses and partners of those infected with Hepatitis C and/or HIV in respect of their own individual claims for Loss of Consortium and earnings losses arising from the care of their spouse/partner. She has acted in hundreds of claims before the Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal and also in the High Court and Supreme Court. She has advised extensively on the terms of the relevant legislation and on legislative changes and interpretation.
Sinéad has represented clients at Inquests arising from the death of their family members/relatives. She has advised extensively in respect of Wardship matters and has provided advice and represented many elderly and vulnerable clients requiring careful and sensitive handling and clear communication.
